Kayla Pheneger – Kindergarten Teacher
Kayla is wife to Landon and mother of two sweet boys, Oaklius and Ozius. Kayla has lived in Pickerington all of her life. While growing up here in Pickerington, Kayla had always dreamed of being a school teacher. Therefore, after graduating from Pickerington, she attended Anderson University in South Carolina; there she studied Early Childhood Education. She then furthered her education by attending Ohio Dominican University with a major in Child Psychology and Art Therapy. In her spare time, Kayla enjoys getting to spend time with her boys and husband. She also takes part in being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and zip lining. Kayla loves fitness and eating healthy; you can find her in the gym almost daily doing yoga, Zumba, running, you name it and she’ll be there! It is evident that she has a heart and passion in teaching children! Kayla has enjoyed serving here at Trinity church for many years in areas such as vacation bible school, being a youth leader and ministering to children on mission trips to Mexico. Kayla loves to get creative and make things, she especially enjoys helping children explore their own creativity. Her positive approach in life makes it easy for everyone to see that she likes to have fun and can make any task a little more enjoyable. Kayla is anticipating the oncoming school year and all that it has to offer. She is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Trinity Learning Center Preschool team and to invest in the lives of the young children.
Tracy Sayre – Kindergarten Teacher Assistant
Tracy has been married to her husband John for 29 years. She has 4 children and one grandson. Being led to give her children a Christ-centered education, she has been a home-school mom for 20 years. Three of her children have graduated high school through home-school, and one continues to home-school as a high school junior. Her family is a member of a local home-school co-op in which she serves on the committee. It gives her a great opportunity to serve and encourage other home-school families and have fun teaching classes. She heads up their showcase of achievements each semester and the high school graduation ceremony. Along with the home-school journey, she has loved having the opportunity to be a PK4 teacher for a year and has been a substitute teacher for grades PK3-12th grade at a local Christian school for the past 14 years. Tracy enjoys serving her local church in the kitchen ministry and in the Awana Cubbies program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and learning to quilt. Tracy is a wonderful asset to help our current families here at Trinity as they make choices for the next steps in their child’s education journey. You will see a lot of Tracy in our Kindergarten classroom especially on Monday’s. Tracy’s passion for teaching makes her a valuable part of our TLC Preschool team!
Beth Burden – Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (4-Day Class AM)
Elizabeth (Beth) is wife to Pastor Tim Burden; mother of 4 adult children: Rachel (Daniel) Foster, Matt Burden, David (Valerie) Burden, and Jonathan Burden; and “Nana” of Ezra, Josiah and Elliana Burden (in Warsaw, IN) Hope, Abigail and Elijah Foster (Nashville, TN). Beth and Tim met at Malone University in Canton, OH and married two years later in 1975. Beth and Pastor Tim have passionately served as a team leading our congregation here at Trinity @ The Eastern Gate Ministries since 2011. Since coming to Pickerington Beth has taught Preschool for over 8 year’s. Beth has been involved with Trinity from the start of the school and she has enjoyed the opportunity to be part of what God is doing right here at Trinity Learning Center Preschool as it grown and continues to bless the children and families in our community. Beth brings a great deal of experience to her teaching in our Preschool. Not only has she taught preschool for 3 years prior to coming to Trinity, Beth has also had the opportunity to use her gifts and talents as a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher in the Van Wert Public School system in Van Wert, OH for 7 years, from which she received numerous awards for service and acclaim from all she worked with. Other experience working with children include home schooling with her own children and when she and Tim were missionaries in Amsterdam, Holland and in Liberia, West Africa. Children have been a special focus on Beth’s heart on the many mission trips and experiences in Mexico and Cuba as well. Of course, Beth has served in the children’s ministries and VBS programs at all the churches Tim was appointed to serve. Along with children, music has always been a special love of Beth’s. Maybe because she was a high school cheerleader Beth loves to inspire children to sing and worship the Lord from the heart. Her love for children and her love for the Lord are what make her a special teacher to help your child build a foundation for a lifetime of learning and blessing.
Lindsey Morgan - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (4-Day PM Class)
Lindsey is wife to Nathan and mother of two girls, Bella and Chloe. Lindsey is originally from Jacksonville, FL and has lived in Pickerington for 4 years. Since moving to Pickerington, she has been an active volunteer in her children’s schools. She also serves as a children’s ministry leader at her church. Lindsey is devoted to providing a loving home where her family can grow closer to God together. She and her family enjoy spending time in nature, traveling and continuous learning. Lindsey graduated from Providence School of Jacksonville. She then attended Columbus State Community College where she earned her Associate of Arts degree with a focus on Early Childhood Education. As a student she studied childhood development and gained a deep understanding of which teaching strategies work best for students based on their stage of development. Lindsey has always felt a strong calling to children’s ministry and she very much enjoys being a part of their education journey. During her time as a children’s ministry leader, Lindsey has enjoyed connecting with her students and helping them grow their faith. She is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Trinity Learning Center Preschool team and community. Lindsey believes the most important thing for a child to gain in preschool is a love of learning and she looks forward to working together with parents to foster that love.
Wendy Lewis – Preschool Teacher (3-day class)
Wendy has been a dedicated member of Trinity Church for 35 years. Over the years, she has served at Trinity in many areas such as women’s ministry, Sunday school, nursery as well as facilitated Bible studies, and has served on various committees here at our church. Wendy brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience and excitement to our 3-day preschool class. Everyday Wendy takes the opportunity to introduce our children to the joys of learning and growing together in preschool. Wendy hadn’t always planned on a career touching the hearts and minds of children, her original career choice was nursing, but when she started to volunteer with troubled youth her path changed. She worked at the Hannah Neil Center for Children for 23 years. The center provided structure, stability, and caring for children aged 6 to 13; removed from their homes. She specialized in working on the “living unit” with the children who need someone with a kind heart. Wendy was the right person for that job. When the center began a transition to close, she began a new chapter working with special needs children for the Dublin City Schools for 16 years as a Paraprofessional. Through this position she had the opportunity to attended class with the students, modify the curriculum so that the student could best understand, and did whatever necessary to help her students succeed in school. The Lord has blessed her with amazing talents and she shares those gifts with all of us here at Trinity Learning Center Preschool every day! Wendy finds it a privilege and joy to be working with children and their families of our school. Her favorite part is sharing God’s love with our students and their families as well as, support them as they begin their academic journey.
Anne Torch – Preschool Teacher Assistant (3 Day Class)
Anne is wife to Mark and mother of two grown children, Mark and Meagan. Anne was born in Glasgow, Scotland into a military family. Her father was stationed there in the U.S. Navy. She spent the majority of her childhood in the Cleveland area and attended Cuyahoga Community College. Anne is also a military wife and has lived all over the United States and Europe. During that time, Anne volunteered in the Family Support Group, aiding military families by providing guidance and finding resources for spouses of deployed soldiers. Anne has resided in Pickerington for 17 years. She has been active in the community serving as an officer of the Fairfield Elementary PTO, Girl Scout Leader, and volunteering at the Pickerington Food Bank. Anne is a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Her pre-school teaching experience includes teaching at the United Methodist Church in Hinesville, GA (Fort Stewart Area) and Epiphany Lutheran Preschool, right here in Pickerington. Anne’s hobbies include quilting, baking and spending time with her family at their cabin in the West Salem, OH area. She is looking forward to spending time with the children and assisting in their education and spiritual growth.
Anna Cherryhomes – Preschool Teacher (2-day class)
Anna was born and raised right here in Pickerington. While she was attending Pickerington North High School she was very involved in leading community outreach programs such as Drug Free club of America and Club hope. Club Hope consists of a group of students who dedicated their time to raising money for childhood cancer research, as well as volunteering to serve meals to families living at the Ronald McDonald house. Anna has many passions, one of them is music. Anna started playing the violin when she was 5 years old, and went on to be a leader in her high school Orchestra as well as in the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Central Ohio. As well as music, she has been a lifelong competitive swimmer and was voted the team captain her senior year of high school. She spends her summers life guarding and coaching the younger generation of competitive swimmers at the New Albany Country Club. Her greatest passion is in photography, Anna is currently in the process of getting her degree in Digital Photography and enjoys the art in not only capturing the shot but in creative editing as well. Anna has attended Trinity Church all of her life. Over the years, she has served countless hours at Trinity volunteering with children’s ministry with Sunday morning services, special events and vacation bible school programs. Anna brings an amazing energy and creativity to the 2-day classroom. Anna enjoys teaching the children through hands on play, group activities, songs, crafts, stories and sharing God’s love with each and every one of the children at Trinity Learning Center Preschool. Her excitement and joy is a blessing to our school.
